Prompt research
Prompt research finds the questions people actually type into AI assistants — the GEO version of keyword research.
Search volume tables miss chat phrasing. People dump context: job title, constraints, “don’t recommend anything with a contract.” Mine Reddit, support tickets, and sales calls.
Cluster prompts by intent: discover, compare, validate, buy, troubleshoot. Your content calendar should match that, not a list of head terms.
Examples
- GSC says “okta pricing.” Reddit says “okta vs jumpcloud for a 40-person nonprofit that hates SAML.” The second is the prompt you track.

The need under the query. “Best CRM” may mean “won’t embarrass me in a demo” or “has a free plan.” Fan-out tries to guess this.
Prompt tracking is running a fixed set of real customer questions through AI engines on a schedule and logging who got named.
How often a question is asked of assistants. Mostly estimated. Treat it like early keyword volume: directional.
Why the query exists: learn, find a site, compare, buy. Chat intent is the same with more backstory in one message.

Not a public one that you should trust blindly. Build your own list. Some GEO tools estimate volume; treat estimates as estimates.
