Reference rate

A synonym some vendors use for how often you’re cited. Define it or you’ll mix it with mention rate.

If a dashboard says reference rate, ask: link or name? Which engines? Which prompts?

Prefer citation rate and mention rate as separate fields.

Examples

A sales deck: reference rate 90%. It was branded prompts. Category prompts were 8%.

Citation rate is the share of tracked prompts where an engine attaches a link to your domain.

Mention rate is how often your brand name appears in the answer text, with or without a link.

Share of Model is your brand’s share of mentions in AI answers versus a defined competitor set, on a defined prompt set.
